In short
- Your school decides who uses MySchool.Life and what goes into it. The school owns its data; we run the service for the school.
- If your school has signed a written agreement with us, that agreement wins wherever it differs from these terms.
- Use the service for school purposes only. Messages go to people the school actually has a relationship with — never to bought or collected lists.
- We send account, security and school-activity email only. No advertising, no marketing to students, and you control most notifications in Settings.
- We confirm a school's price before anything is billed.
- How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Section 1Who these terms cover
MySchool.Life is operated by InterconX Limited (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to:
- The school — the school, board, district or other organisation that creates a MySchool.Life account and the administrators who act for it. The person who creates the account confirms they are authorised to accept these terms for the school.
- Users — staff, parents, guardians and students given access by the school, and parents who book an interview or event as a guest.
A written agreement comes first. Many schools and boards sign their own agreement or data-processing addendum with us. Where it differs from these terms, the signed agreement governs. Where it is silent, these terms apply.
If you are a student under the age of majority where you live, your school has set up your account and your parent or guardian, together with the school, is responsible for your use of it.
Section 2Accounts
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself and use multi-factor authentication where it is offered. Tell your school, or us at [email protected], straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- Give accurate information, and keep your email address current — important messages such as password resets and emergency alerts depend on it.
- One person, one account. Do not share an account or sign in as someone else.
- Your school can change your role or remove your access at any time. When it does, you stop receiving that school's information and notifications.
Section 3The school's responsibilities
The school controls its account, and with that control come some responsibilities. The school:
- adds only people it has a genuine relationship with — its own staff, its students, and those students' parents and guardians — and has the authority, notices and any consents required by law to put their information into MySchool.Life;
- makes sure the information it enters or imports, including email addresses, is accurate and kept up to date, and removes people who have left;
- decides which features are switched on, including optional AI features, and who may use them;
- sets its own retention rules and meets its own legal duties as the organisation responsible for its records; and
- is responsible for what its administrators and staff do in the account.
Section 4Acceptable use
Use MySchool.Life for running your school and taking part in it. Do not:
- send unsolicited or bulk commercial messages, or use the service to email anyone who is not part of your school community;
- import, buy, rent or scrape lists of addresses, or add people to the service without the school's authority to do so;
- upload anything unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- view or try to view information your role does not allow, or try to get around access controls;
- probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission — if you find a vulnerability, report it to [email protected] and we will work with you;
- disrupt the service, overload it, or introduce malware; or
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
We may remove content or restrict an account that breaks these rules, as described in section 10.
Section 5Email and notifications
MySchool.Life sends messages because something happened in the service that concerns you. We send:
- Account and security messages — email verification, password resets, sign-in codes and account changes;
- Invitations — one message when your school adds you, with a link to set up your account;
- School activity — booking confirmations and reminders, messages, attendance, exams, bus notices, school announcements and summaries of your own activity; and
- Emergency alerts — evacuation and safety notices sent during a school emergency.
We do not send advertising, we do not market to students, and we do not sell or share email addresses.
You choose what you receive. Each type of non-essential notification can be switched off in Settings → Notifications in the app. Account and security messages, and emergency alerts, cannot be switched off, because the account and student safety depend on them. School announcement emails also support one-click unsubscribe in your email app.
Undeliverable addresses. If messages to an address bounce or are reported as unwanted, we may stop sending to that address and ask the school to correct it.
Section 6School data and privacy
- The school owns its data. Everything the school and its users put into MySchool.Life belongs to the school. We use it only to provide, secure and support the service for that school, as our privacy policy describes.
- Where it lives. School data is stored in Canada, in Toronto. The providers we rely on, and where they operate, are listed in section 6 of the privacy policy.
- What we never do. We never sell personal information, show advertising, or use student data to train AI models.
- Getting your data out. When a subscription ends, we return the school's data on request and then delete it, and confirm the deletion in writing.
- Individual requests. Anyone can ask to see, correct or delete their information — see your rights and the deletion request page.
Section 7AI-assisted features
Some features, such as help drafting exam questions or marking answer sheets, can use an AI provider. They are optional: the school decides whether they are available, and they run only when a staff member chooses to use them. AI output can be wrong. A teacher reviews it and makes every final decision about a student; no grade or decision rests on automated processing alone. The providers involved are listed in section 5 of the privacy policy.
Section 8Fees and payment
- A school can create its account at no charge. We confirm the school's price with it before anything is billed.
- Subscriptions are priced per school, as agreed with the school or set out in its written agreement or invoice. Prices exclude any applicable taxes.
- Optional AI credits are bought separately, through Stripe, at the price shown when you buy them. A school may instead use its own AI provider key.
- If an invoice goes unpaid, we will tell the school and give it reasonable time to pay before limiting the account. We will not delete school data because of a late payment without first giving the school the chance to export it.
Section 9Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep MySchool.Life available and secure, but it may occasionally be unavailable — for maintenance, which we schedule outside school hours where we can, or for reasons outside our control. Service levels, where a school needs them, are set out in its written agreement.
We improve the service continually. If we remove or materially reduce a feature a school is paying for, we will tell the school's administrators in advance.
Section 10Suspension and ending
- A school may stop at any time by telling us. Fees already paid for a current period are handled as set out in the school's agreement or invoice.
- A user may leave at any time by asking the school, or by using the deletion request page.
- We may suspend or restrict an account that breaks these terms, puts other users or the service at risk, or is required by law to be restricted. Where it is safe and lawful, we tell the school first and give it a chance to put things right.
- When a subscription ends, section 6 applies to the school's data.
Section 11Ownership
The school and its users own the content they put into MySchool.Life, and give us only the permission we need to host, process and display it to provide the service. InterconX Limited owns the MySchool.Life software, design and brand. Suggestions you send us may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.
Section 12Disclaimers
MySchool.Life supports a school's staff; it does not replace their judgment. Emergency features help a school account for people during an evacuation, but they depend on devices, networks and people, and must be used alongside — never instead of — the school's own emergency procedures and the emergency services. Except as set out in these terms or a school's written agreement, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” without other warranties.
Section 13Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, neither we nor the school is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability arising from the service in any twelve months is limited to the fees the school paid us for the service in those twelve months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or overrides different limits agreed in a school's written agreement.
Section 14Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, where InterconX Limited is registered, unless a school's written agreement names another jurisdiction. This does not take away any protection given to you by the mandatory law of the place where you or your school are located.
Section 15Changes to these terms
Each version of these terms is dated. We tell school administrators at least 30 days before a material change takes effect and keep earlier versions available on request. If a school does not accept a change, it may end its subscription before the change takes effect.
